Softball Recap: Mansfield's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Tuesday

After a string of five wins, Mansfield's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell 5-1 to Charleston. Mansfield was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Charleston apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Kamryn Infalt spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up ten Ks. Those ten strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, Mansfield saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Miley Clopton, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base. Clopton is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season.

Mansfield's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-4. As for Charleston, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Mansfield Tigers duke it out with Horatio Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Charleston, they will venture away from home to square off against Alma at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Airedales will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight.
