Baseball Recap: Zion-Benton Gets the Win

After only two runs in their last contest, Zion-Benton made sure to put some runs up on the board against Waukegan on Monday. The Zee-Bees never let the Bulldogs get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 10-1 back in April.

Zion-Benton got a great performance from Andrew Mitchell as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. The Zee-Bees are undefeated when Mitchell posts eight or more strikeouts, but 5-20 otherwise.

At the plate, Michael Gonzalez was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Brayden Duran, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Zion-Benton's record is now 8-20. As for Waukegan, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-20.

Looking ahead, Zion-Benton will host Tinley Park at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Waukegan, they are taking a road trip to take on Hoffman Estates at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
