Basketball Game Preview: Indian River Wolves vs. Christian Brothers Academy Brothers

Indian River has gone 6-1 against Christian Brothers Academy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Indian River Wolves will be playing at home against the Christian Brothers Academy Brothers at 12:30 p.m. Indian River is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last seven games.

On Thursday, Indian River didn't have too much trouble with Immaculate Heart Central as they won 46-31. Given the Wolves' advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 114th, while the Cavaliers are ranked 413th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Allison LaMora, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 19 boards. She is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 14 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Keera LaLonde, who posted nine points and six assists.

Indian River smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 38 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Christian Brothers Academy). They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat Syracuse Academy of Science 69-35. While the Brothers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 3-11), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Indian River pushed their record up to 12-2 with the victory, which was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.2 points per game. As for Christian Brothers Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.

Indian River strolled past Christian Brothers Academy in their previous meeting back in January of 2024 by a score of 48-32. Does Indian River have another victory up their sleeve, or will Christian Brothers Academy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
