Volleyball Recap: Gray's Creek Starts Season with Victory Against Topsail

Gray's Creek gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Topsail Pirates.

The win didn't come easy: Topsail scored at least 19 points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 22-25, 25-21, 25-22.

Taryn Sylvester had a dynamite game, getting 21 digs and eight assists. Those 21 digs gave her a new career-high.

Topsail's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Audrey Johnson, who had 14 digs and one assist, and Sydney King, who had four aces and three digs.

Gray's Creek didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Pine Forest on the 13th. As for Topsail, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 3-0 win against Coastal Christian on the 14th.
