Preview: Bishop Garrigan Golden Bears vs. St. Mary's Hawks
Bishop Garrigan has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against The St. Mary's Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, Bishop Garrigan was fully in charge, breezing past Janesville 63-6 at home.
Meanwhile, St. Mary's put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 52-23 win over Harris-Lake Park. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for St. Mary's two-point performance the game before.
Landon Waldschmitt had a dynamite game for St. Mary's, rushing for 100 yards and four touchdowns on only 11 carries, while also throwing for 167 yards and two touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. Waldschmitt is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last four games he's played. Collin Homan made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Bishop Garrigan's victory was their ninth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 8-0. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-8 Siouxland Christian and 0-8 Rockford (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 36.6% over those games). As for St. Mary's, their win bumped their record up to 9-0.
