Basketball Game Preview: Wilson Mustangs vs. Lorenzo Hornets

Wilson hasn't had much luck against Lorenzo recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Wilson Mustangs will venture away from home to square off against the Lorenzo Hornets at 7:30 p.m.

Wilson is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Friday. They were beaten by O'Donnell 65-19.

Meanwhile, Lorenzo came tearing into Friday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17 points) and they left with even more momentum. They breezed by the Eagles to the tune of 72-29. Given the Hornets' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 678th, while the Eagles are ranked 1614th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lorenzo has also been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.8 points per game. As for Wilson, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-15.

Wilson was dealt a bruising 70-32 loss at the hands of Lorenzo in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Wilson was down 38-11.
