Basketball Recap: Jamar Payen Key Part of Team Effort in Lions Win

With a playoff win on the line, Lanham Christian rose to the challenge on Thursday. They enjoyed a cozy 79-60 win over The Living Water School Storm. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Storm recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Lanham Christian got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jamar Payen out in front who dropped a double-double with 30 points and 12 boards. Those 12 rebounds gave Payen a new career-high. Tre Ray was another key player, dropping a double-double with 21 points and ten boards.

Lanham Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 27 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in five consecutive matchups.

Lanham Christian's record is now 21-5. As for The Living Water School, their loss dropped their record down to 13-10.

Coming up, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Lions challenge the Tigers at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday. Takoma Academy will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Lanham Christian surely won't give up without a fight. The Living Water School does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
