Canon City waltzed into their contest on Friday with ten straight wins... but they left with 11. They took down the Widefield Gladiators 62-44. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 44-30 last Tuesday.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Canon City to victory, but perhaps none more so than Alexi Till, who posted 12 points and eight rebounds. Till is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 11 games she's played. Kristyn Barnes was another key player, putting up 18 points.

Canon City smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in four consecutive games.

Several Gladiators players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Olivia McEwen, who scored ten points. The dominant performance also gave McEwen a new career-high in shooting accuracy (80%). Another player making a difference was Lilly Solano, who put up eight points and five assists.

Canon City's win was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-5. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.7 points over those games. As for Widefield, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Canon City will challenge The Classical Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Classical Academy will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Canon City surely won't give up without a fight. As for Widefield, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Mesa Ridge at 7:30 p.m. Mesa Ridge has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
