Recap: Lawrence Academy Warriors vs. John Paul II Catholic Saints
There's no place like home for the Lawrence Academy Warriors, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road on Thursday. They walked away with a 73-63 victory over John Paul II Catholic on Friday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Lawrence Academy found their leader in underclassman Mike Lee, who went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 27 points and 5 assists. Lee is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now stole two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mari Larry, who scored 21 points along with 5 rebounds.
Caleb Knight and Kyle Watkins certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Knight scored 24 points, while Watkins scored 21 points. Knight scored a full 38.1% of John Paul II Catholic's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Latavious Moore, who scored 6 points.
Lawrence Academy pushed their record up to 3-1 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 79.0 points per game. As for John Paul II Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.
Lawrence Academy will head out on the road to face off against Oakwood at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Oakwood comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 23 points in their last four games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for John Paul II Catholic, they will be playing at home against North Raleigh Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
