Basketball Game Preview: Freeman Mavericks vs. Hermitage Panthers

The Freeman Mavericks will face off against the Hermitage Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Freeman is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.

On Tuesday, Freeman was able to grind out a solid victory over John Marshall, taking the game 51-39.

It was another big night for Addie Morton, who posted 23 points. That makes it 11 consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Freeman's points. Another player making a difference was Molly Bannister, who had nine points.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hermitage). They really took it to Thomas Jefferson for the full four quarters, racking up a 52-12 win. With the Panthers ahead 30-8 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Freeman better focus on containing Jordyn McQuinn-Hamlin and Mariah Kinslow as the pair were huge in Hermitage's win. McQuinn-Hamlin scored 17 points, while Kinslow put up 21 points.

Freeman pushed their record up to 7-4 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.4 points per game. As for Hermitage, their win bumped their record up to 2-7.

Freeman came up short against Hermitage when the teams last played back in January of 2024, falling 42-30. Can Freeman avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
