5A District 6 recap September 17, 2013
South Sumter took down East Ridge 55-14 last week, the largest margin of any game.
The Raiders led 5A District 6 in scoring this week by notching 55 points on the Knight.
Pasco's dynamic duo of Grant Starling and Malik Johns proved to be unstoppable against Wesley Chapel, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Starling threw for 127 yards and 2 touchdowns and Johns had 161 yards receiving. Nate Craig helped Pasco's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 21 yards.
The Pirates' dynamic duo of Starling and Johns proved tough for the Wildcats to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Starling put up the best numbers in passing as Pasco topped Wesley Chapel.
David Tinch was a passing and rushing force as Weeki Wachee fell to Hudson. He completed 11 passes for 154 yards and also ran for 40 yards. Tinch's favorite target this week was Marcus Allen, who caught 4 passes for 92 yards.
Johns was the best receiver in the league this week as Tom Mchugh's team beat Tico Hernandez's team.
Ra'shaad Hart was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 109 yards on 14 carries as Hernando bested the Wildcats. Brad Ellis also contributed to the rushing game with 34 yards on the ground.
The Hornets' 6-foot-0 quarterback Tinch is the league leader in passing yards this season with 350. The leading receiver in the league this season is Johns. The Pasco star has 10 catches for 201 yards.
The top two teams in 5A District 6 will face off this week when first place Zephyrhills takes on second place South Sumter.
One of the league's premier quarterbacks will go head-to-head with its top pass rusher when Weeki Wachee and the Leopards face off next week.
South Sumter made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 1,101 from 1,370. The advance stemmed from a 55-14 victory over East Ridge last week.
