Softball Game Preview: Covington Buccaneers vs. Lehman Catholic Cavaliers

Covington is a perfect 10-0 against Lehman Catholic since March of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Buccaneers will take on the Cavaliers at 5:00 p.m. Covington is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 14.2 runs per game this season.

On Wednesday, Covington made easy work of Milton-Union and carried off a 22-6 win. The Buccaneers haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Emalyn Johnson was incredible, firing off four home runs and seven RBI while going 4-for-4. What's more, she posted four runs, the most she's had since back in April. Ava Hartwig was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Covington lost a few balls and finished the game with six home runs. They launched four more home runs than Milton-Union's also-impressive total of two.

Meanwhile, Lehman Catholic fell victim to Fort Recovery and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They lost 12-0 to the Indians. The Cavaliers have struggled against the Indians recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Covington's win bumped their record up to 18-4. As for Lehman Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 6-13.

Everything went Covington's way against Lehman Catholic in their previous matchup back in April, as Covington made off with a 24-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Buccaneers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
