Softball Recap: Hillsdale Continues Home Dominance on Thursday

Hillsdale proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by six) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-0 win over the Carlmont Scots. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Fighting Knights have posted against the Scots since April 14, 2022.

The result came thanks to Lola Jones's shutout, as she gave up just four hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, Hillsdale saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Giuliana Brum, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Hillsdale hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are undefeated (9-0) when they post two or more strikeouts.

Hillsdale's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-6-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Carlmont, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hillsdale will take on Burlingame at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Fighting Knights are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Carlmont, they will square off against Notre Dame at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Tigers will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something the Scots surely won't give up without a fight.
