Volleyball Recap: Galena's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Galena entered their tilt with Chetopa on Monday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Hornets. That's the fifth time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 2-0 victory on Thursday.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Galena took both sets by at least 17 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-7, 25-8.

Weslynn Russell paced Galena's offense, picking up seven kills. Russell got some help from Rylie Myer and her 12 assists. Myer was also solid from the service line: she led the team with ten aces.

Galena's win bumped their record up to 22-10. As for Chetopa, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 18 of their last 19 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 1-24-1 record this season.

Galena wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 2-0 victory against Fredonia on the 14th. Chetopa has also already played their next contest (against Southern Coffey County), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
