Baseball Game Preview: Cuba/Spoon River Valley Wildcats vs. Canton Little Giants

The Cuba/Spoon River Valley Wildcats will head out on the road to challenge the Canton Little Giants at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

It was a proper cat-fight when Cuba/Spoon River Valley challenged Beardstown on Thursday. The Wildcats took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Canton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 17-11 to Havana. That's two games in a row now that the Little Giants have lost by exactly six runs.

Miles Hoops led a balanced group of hitters, going 3-for-4 with four runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Canton is 4-1 when Hoops posts two or more runs, but 6-17 otherwise. Kash Van Houten was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two doubles.

Cuba/Spoon River Valley's loss dropped their record down to 16-14. As for Canton, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-18.

Cuba/Spoon River Valley suffered a grim 15-1 defeat to Canton in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
