Baseball Recap: Indian Trail Comes Up Short

Indian Trail extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping their season record down to 12-9 in the process. They fell 4-1 to the Franklin Sabers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Sabers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-8 on Wednesday.

Briar Thoe was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Indian Trail saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cade Minatto, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

As for Franklin, they pushed their record up to 20-4 with the victory, which was their 13th straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games.

On Franklin's side, Sam Ortiz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up nine Ks.

Coming up, Indian Trail will host Mukwonago at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Franklin, they will head out to take on Racine Horlick at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
