Sterling is 8-1 against Freeport since March of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Sterling Golden Warriors will face off against the Freeport Pretzels at 4:30 p.m. Sterling will be strutting in after a victory while Freeport will be coming in after a defeat.

Sterling is headed out to face Freeport after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. Sterling had just enough and edged out Newman Central Catholic 9-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Golden Warriors have posted since April 22, 2024.

The team relied heavily on Lily Cantu, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Mya Lira was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Freeport had to start their season on the road on Monday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They lost 13-2 to Winnebago.

Freeport saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Diem Beach, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-3.

Everything went Sterling's way against Freeport in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as Sterling made off with a 10-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sterling since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
