Baseball Recap: Friday's Victory Is Weston's Eighth in Last Ten Outings

Weston barely beat Beekman Charter the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Wolves blew past the Tigers 18-2 on Friday. Considering the Wolves have won 12 matchups by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Weston got a massive performance out of Colten Blundell, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 2-for-2. Those two home runs gave Blundell a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Browning, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs.

Weston was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .562. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .310 or higher in five consecutive contests.

Weston has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.1 runs over those games. As for Beekman Charter, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-17 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Weston will head out to challenge Alexandria at 11:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Beekman Charter, they will venture away from home to face off against Union Parish at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Farmers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.06 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
