Basketball Recap: Make It 11 in a Row for Rocky Mount

Rocky Mount extended their winning streak to 11 games thanks to a huge performance from Kira Jones. The Rocky Mount Gryphons took their game on Wednesday with ease, bagging a 75-18 win over the Bunn Wildcats thanks in part to Jones, who went 12 of 14 en route to 29 points and six steals. Her evening made it 15 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

The team also got some help courtesy of McKinley Battle, who went 7 for 9 on her way to 15 points and four steals. That's the most steals she has posted since back in February of 2024.

Bunn's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Chloe Arnold, who went 7 of 16 en route to 18 points, and Ny'Lah Mitchell, who posted no points.

Rocky Mount's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-1. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 49.5 points. As for Bunn, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-13.

Rocky Mount is taking a road trip to face off against Southern Nash at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Rocky Mount's defense has only allowed 29.6 points per game this season, so Southern Nash's offense will have their work cut out for them. Bunn has already played their next contest (against Nash Central), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
