Softball Recap: Black River Comes Up Short

Black River extended their losing streak to ten on Monday, dropping them down to 2-11. They came up short against the Keystone Wildcats, falling 16-6. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-2 on April 9th.

Briley Jackson made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those RBI were her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Remi Dieter, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

As for Keystone, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.4 runs over those games.

On Keystone's side, the team relied heavily on Bristol Foster, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave Foster a new career-high. Brooklyn Modock was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Black River will head out to challenge Firelands at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Keystone, they will challenge Midview at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Middies' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Wildcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
