Recap: Westlake Wolverines vs. North Point Eagles
The Westlake Wolverines's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fourth straight loss dating back to last season. They fell just short of North Point by a score of 65-62. Even though they lost, Westlake's still made a splash on offense and bumped their average scoring up to 54.5 points per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).
Several Wolverines players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Immanuel McCallister, who scored 13 points. Another player making a difference was Melvin Newman, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and four steals.
North Point's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Collin Farmer led the charge by scoring 24 points along with five assists and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Robert "rt" taylor, who scored 23 points along with eight rebounds.
Westlake's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for North Point, they pushed their record up to 2-0 with that victory, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Westlake will face off against St. Charles at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully St. Charles focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 last Friday. As for North Point, they will head out on the road to face off against Thomas Stone at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Thomas Stone focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Saturday.
