Basketball Recap: Jenkins Beats Calvary Day for Their Fifth Straight Victory

Jenkins hadn't done well against Calvary Day recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Jenkins Warriors walked away with a 48-39 victory over the Calvary Day Cavaliers. Winning may never get old, but the Warriors sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

Jenkins' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Iycess Scott, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and ten boards. Scott has been hot, having posted eight or more rebounds the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Aniyah Browner, who posted 18 points in addition to eight steals and seven boards.

When it comes to explaining why Calvary Day lost, don't look at Destini Gooddine. Despite the final result, she went 9-for-15 to rack up 23 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. What's more, Gooddine also posted a 60% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's achieved since back in December of 2024. Bre Jones was another key player, putting up seven points.

Jenkins' record is now 17-8. As for Calvary Day, their defeat ended a ten-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-9.

Jenkins wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, an 81-14 win against Academy of Richmond County on the 18th. As for Calvary Day, they have also already played their next contest, a 54-25 victory against Landmark Christian on the 18th.
