Softball Game Preview: Fern Creek Tigers vs. Ohio County Eagles

The Fern Creek Tigers will head out to challenge the Ohio County Eagles at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday.

Fern Creek came into their game on Saturday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 13-0 to Larue County. The match marked the first time this year in which the Tigers were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, Ohio County had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Wildcats. While the Eagles didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Madyson Crowe (2027) spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Hadlee Canty (2025) and Talynn Clark (2026) did most of the damage at the plate: Canty (2025) went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Clark (2026) scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-3.

Fern Creek now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Ohio County, their win bumped their record up to 6-2-1.

Fern Creek came out on top in a nail-biter against Ohio County when the teams last played back in April of 2023, sneaking past 6-5. Will Fern Creek repeat their success, or does Ohio County has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
