Baseball Game Preview: Springfield vs. Rochester Rockets

Springfield will head out on the road to square off against the Rochester Rockets at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Springfield fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Glenwood on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 15-10 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Titans. Springfield has struggled against Glenwood recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Brody Scheffler was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Springfield is 2-1 when Scheffler posts two or more runs, but 10-13 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Wade Snyder, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Rochester and Jacksonville, and Jacksonville kept the tradition alive. The Rockets fell just short of the Crimsons by a score of 7-6 on Tuesday.

Springfield's record now sits at 12-14. As for Rochester, their record is now 13-10.

Springfield suffered a grim 11-4 defeat to Rochester in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Can Springfield avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
