Softball Recap: South Warren Takes Down Ranked Livingston Central

South Warren faced Livingston Central in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Spartans put the hurt on the Cardinals with a sharp 9-1 win. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 19 matches by six runs or more this season.

Courtney Norwood spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 13 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on McLaine Hudson, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Kinleigh Russell, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

South Warren is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Livingston Central, the loss snapped their winning streak at 12 games and leaves them with a 20-5 record.
