After a string of eight wins, Lamar's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. While the 2-2 score might suggest a draw, it was the Heritage Academy Patriots who were credited with the win. The Heritage Academy Patriots got it done in the shootout by posting three goals to the Lamar Raiders' two. The Raiders were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Patriots earlier this season, when they won 1-0.

Austin Wichman and Blake Harris scored both of Lamar's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 18 goals.

Lamar's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 11-3. As for Heritage Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.

Lamar has already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Starkville Academy on the 30th. Heritage Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
