The Eminence Eels will venture away from home to square off against Horizon Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Eminence sitting on four straight victories and Horizon Christian on nine.
On Saturday, Eminence made easy work of Crawfordsville and carried off a 7-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Eels, who have now won four contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Meanwhile, Horizon Christian got themselves on the board against Indianapolis Shortridge on Thursday, but Indianapolis Shortridge never followed suit. They blew past the Blue Devils 10-0. Horizon Christian is also no stranger to big wins: their blowout was the eighth matchup they've won by 6+ runs this season.
Lucy Long made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Horizon Christian got a big performance out of Brooke Wrightsman, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Abby Brown was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.
Horizon Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Indianapolis Shortridge only posted an OBP of .067.
Eminence's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Horizon Christian, their record now sits at 9-0.
Eminence took their victory against Horizon Christian in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 13-6 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eels since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
