After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Plainfield, Greenwood was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They took down the Perry Meridian Falcons 35-20. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Woodmen as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.
A big part of Greenwood's win came down to the chemistry between Brady Smith and his top target Benjamin Hommell. Smith threw for 194 yards and three touchdowns on only ten passes while Hommell picked up 179 receiving yards and three scores. Hommell's longest reception was for an incredible 74 yards.
Greenwood was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 268 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Perry Meridian only rushed for 114.
Several Falcons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jackson Schoch, who threw for 266 yards and a pair of TDs, and also rushed for 48 yards. Perry Meridian also got a significant boost from Tristan Ling, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 81 yards.
Greenwood's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 2-4. As for Perry Meridian, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.
