Preview: Emmett Huskies vs. Minico Spartans
The Emmett Huskies will head out on the road to face off against the Minico Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Emmett knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matches -- so hopefully Minico likes a good challenge.
Last Friday, Emmett never let their opponents score. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Ridgevue 41-0 at home.
Ryder Scheibe was the offensive standout of the game as he rushed for 101 yards on only ten carries, and also threw for 179 yards and two touchdowns. Isaac Brennan did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 87 receiving yards, while also punching in a touchdown on the ground.
Meanwhile, Minico faced Twin Falls in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Minico was dealt a 49-15 loss at the hands of Twin Falls on Friday. Minico's defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.
With Emmett's win and Minico's loss, both teams now sport identical 6-3 records.
Everything came up roses for Emmett against Minico in their previous meeting back in October of 2020 as the team secured a 35-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Emmett since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
