Baseball Recap: St. Xavier Beats Floyd Central for Their Fourth Straight Victory

St. Xavier came tearing into Thursday's game with three straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against the Floyd Central Highlanders. That's more bragging rights for the Tigers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Colton Zuege looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kyle Krupp, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Brodie Benefield, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one double.

St. Xavier pushed their record up to 14-4 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Floyd Central, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Xavier will face off against Central Hardin at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Floyd Central, they will take on Castle at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
