Baseball Recap: Moorpark Comes Up Short

If Moorpark was feeling good fresh off their 10-0 takedown of Oak Park last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Musketeers fell just short of the Royal Highlanders by a score of 5-3 on Wednesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Highlanders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-1 back in March.

Ronan O'Connell was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits.

On the hitting side, Taylor Busch was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Carson Cerny was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Moorpark's loss dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Royal, their record is now 15-3.

While Moorpark had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
