Recap: St. Andrew's Lions vs. Islands Sharks
The St. Andrew's Lions have not had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They took down Islands 44-28 on Wednesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as St. Andrew's also won the last time the pair played back in November of 2023.
Leading St. Andrew's to victory were Claire Fleming and Coco Carnahan. Fleming scored ten points along with five rebounds, while Carnahan scored ten points along with six steals and five rebounds. The match was Carnahan's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Maren Wrieden, who scored nine points.
St. Andrew's win bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Islands, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-7.
St. Andrew's has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Westminster Schools of Augusta at 6:00 p.m. on January 12th. Hopefully Westminster Schools of Augusta focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight last Friday. Islands' road trip will continue as they head out to face Wayne County at 6:00 p.m. on January 12th. Wayne County presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Islands in Georgia (Wayne County is ranked 166th, while Islands is ranked 551st).
