Baseball Recap: Cape Fear Takes a Loss

If Cape Fear was riding high fresh off their 7-0 takedown of Culpeper County last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Colts fell 4-0 to the Terry Sanford Bulldogs on Tuesday. The Colts were not able to make up for their defeat to the Bulldogs from their previous meeting back in March of 2022.

Caden Jeffrey was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Cape Fear saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Landon Underwood, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Cape Fear's loss dropped their record down to 13-8. As for Terry Sanford, the win (which was their 13th in a row) raised their record to 18-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cape Fear will head out to challenge South View at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Terry Sanford, they will be taking part in a tournament against D.H. Conley at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
