Softball Recap: Bluffton Triumphs

Bluffton took an eight-run loss the last time they faced off against Crestview, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Pirates had just enough and edged out the Knights 8-7.

PEYTON WORCESTER was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up five earned (and two unearned) runs off 12 hits. WORCESTER was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on HAELEE RAYLE, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI. KARLEIGH DAVIS was another key player, earning one run and two stolen bases.

Bluffton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 4-2 when they post 11 or more hits.

Bluffton's win bumped their record up to 4-8. As for Crestview, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bluffton will host Ottawa Hills at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Green Bears have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14 runs per game on average), something the Pirates will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Crestview, they will be playing at home against Allen East at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
