Baseball Game Preview: Holland Hornets vs. Chilton Pirates

Holland is a perfect 5-0 against Chilton since March of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Holland Hornets will head out on the road to face off against the Chilton Pirates at 11:00 a.m. Chilton took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Holland, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with 13 losses in a row dating back to last season, Holland turned things around against Bremond on Monday. They never let the Tigers get on the board and left with a 3-0 win.

Tyler Johnson was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Hunter Mariante was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Josue Martinez also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, Chilton had to start their season on the road last Saturday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They lost 21-0 to Bruceville-Eddy. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it 21 in a row.

Holland's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-12. As for Chilton, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.

Everything went Holland's way against Chilton in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Holland made off with an 18-6 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Holland since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
