Basketball Recap: Andover Central Comes Up Short

Andover Central lost against Arkansas City back in December of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Andover Central Jaguars lost 52-32 to the Arkansas City Bulldogs. The Jaguars were down 37-16 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Despite the defeat, Andover Central saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Reese Wilborn posted 11 points and five boards.

It was another big night for Saliyah Henderson-Johnson, who almost dropped a double-double with 14 points and nine rebounds for Arkansas City. The team also got some help courtesy of Kierslynn Waggoner, who had 12 points.

Andover Central's loss dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Arkansas City, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-2 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought as the Jaguars take on the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Arkansas City, they will be playing at home against Valley Center at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
