Volleyball Recap: Mullen Comes Up Short

Mullen was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 3-0 to the Mead Mavericks. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mavericks apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2023.

Gabby Peonio paced Mullen's offense, picking up six kills. Peonio got some help from Milli Mares and her eight assists. Mares was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Mead's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lily Kimrey led the charge by getting eight digs and four aces. Another player making a difference was Alana Costello, who had 11 digs and three assists.

Mullen's loss dropped their record down to 16-6. As for Mead, their record is now 14-8.

Mullen didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-1 victory against Thompson Valley on the 1st. As for Mead, they have also already played their next matchup, a 3-2 win against Erie on the 1st.
