Basketball Recap: Southwestern Takes a Loss

If Southwestern was riding high fresh off their 68-16 takedown of National Academy Foundation two weeks ago, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Southwestern Sabers had to suffer through a 64-11 loss at the hands of the Carver Vo-Tech Bears. The Sabers have struggled against the Bears recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Carver Vo-Tech got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was David Ross out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds. Ross has been hot recently, having also posted two or more blocks the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jordan Prior, who went 5 of 10 en route to 11 points along with six boards and three steals.

Southwestern's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Carver Vo-Tech, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Southwestern will host Bard at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Carver Vo-Tech, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Forest Park at 5:15 p.m. Carver Vo-Tech knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Forest Park likes a good challenge.
