Baseball Game Preview: Eads Eagles vs. Cheyenne Wells Tigers

Friday just wasn't the day for Eads' offense. They came up short against McClave on Friday, falling 15-0. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Eagles, who until this game were averaging 3.2 runs allowed.

Meanwhile, Cheyenne Wells had to endure an eight-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They were the clear victors by a 19-7 margin over Elbert on Saturday. The Tigers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

The team relied heavily on Levi Mayhan, who went 4-for-5 with four stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kooper Brossman, who went 3-for-5 with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI.

Cheyenne Wells always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Elbert only posted an OBP of .345.

Cheyenne Wells' win bumped their record up to 3-11. As for Eads, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-3.

Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Eads has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .457. However, it's not like Cheyenne Wells struggles in that department as they've averaged .479. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
