Basketball Recap: Rashard Kelly Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Mckeel Academy + How To Watch

Kathleen lost to McKeel Academy back in January, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Red Devils walked away with a 58-50 win over the Wildcats. The victory almost wasn't to be: the Red Devils were down 32-13 in the second quarter.

Kathleen's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rashard Kelly, who posted 13 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. That's the most boards Kelly has posted since back in December of 2024. Jayshaun Frederick was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds.

Kathleen has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.6 points over those games. As for McKeel Academy, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

Kathleen will take on Winter Haven in a holiday battle at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for McKeel Academy, they will be home for the holidays to greet Lakeland Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Wildcats will need to watch out since the Vikings have now posted at least 55 points in their last five contests.
