Volleyball Recap: St. Joseph Takes a Loss

St. Joseph was the 3-1 winner over Rich when they last played one another back in September, but their luck changed this time around. The Jayhawks lost 3-0 to the Rebels on Thursday. The Jayhawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-12, 25-20, 25-12.

When it comes to explaining why St. Joseph lost, don't look at Sophie Yates. Despite the final result, she had 21 digs and one assist.

Leading Rich to victory were Paige Smith and Tyla Pugmire. Smith had 17 digs and two aces, while Pugmire had ten digs and one assist. Smith has been hot, having posted two or more aces the last five times she's played.

St. Joseph's loss dropped their record down to 13-9. As for Rich, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.

St. Joseph will take on Manila at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Rich, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 2-0 defeat against Wasatch on the 10th.
