Basketball Recap: Buffalo Comes Up Short

Buffalo lost against St. Joseph Central back in February of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Buffalo Bison fell 62-49 to the St. Joseph Central Irish.

Despite the defeat, Buffalo saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Asher Flanery on his way to 26 points in addition to five assists and four steals. The match was Flanery's fourth in a row with at least 15 points. Caleb Cales was another key player, putting up 11 points.

St. Joseph Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Isaiah Sanders led the charge by dropping a double-double with 12 points and 11 assists. The dominant performance gave Sanders a new career-high in assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Cylis Allen, who to rack up 14 points.

Buffalo's loss dropped their record down to 7-11. As for St. Joseph Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-7 record this season.

Buffalo has already played their next game, a 69-60 victory against Point Pleasant on the 18th. As for St. Joseph Central, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 51-46 win against Wayne on the 21st.
