Basketball Preview: Gulf Pointe Latin Gladiators vs. Santa Rosa Christian
Gulf Pointe Latin is 5-0 against the since November of 2021, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Gulf Pointe Latin Gladiators will head out on the road to challenge Santa Rosa Christian at 5:00 p.m. Hopefully Gulf Pointe Latin focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 29 on Friday.
Last Friday, Gulf Pointe Latin earned a 31-19 win over the Lions. The win made it back-to-back wins for Gulf Pointe Latin.
Gulf Pointe Latin's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Coral Hamer, who scored four points along with 11 rebounds and six steals. Hamer has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Matthews, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Santa Rosa Christian's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight defeat. They took a 42-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of Gulf Pointe Latin. Santa Rosa Christian has not had much luck with the Gladiators recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Gulf Pointe Latin's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-10. As for Santa Rosa Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-10.
Gulf Pointe Latin didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against the in their previous matchup on Thursday, but they still walked away with a 42-37 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Gulf Pointe Latin since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
