The Big Sandy Red Devils can finally bid farewell to their 24-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Saturday. They came out on top against Manassas by a score of 53-44. Big Sandy's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Big Sandy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Bailey Berry out in front who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it six consecutive games in which Berry has scored at least 25% of Big Sandy's points. Another player making a difference was Serenity Guin, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds.
Big Sandy's win bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Manassas, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-4.
Big Sandy will be playing in front of their home fans against Lewis County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Manassas, they will head out on the road to face off against Memphis Academy of Science and Engineering at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Memphis Academy of Science and Engineering and Manassas are at an even 4-4 over their past eight head-to-heads.
