Soccer Game Preview: West Forsyth vs. Sequoyah

The West Forsyth Wolverines will venture away from home to challenge the Sequoyah Chiefs at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. West Forsyth is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last seven games.

West Forsyth's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Etowah with a sharp 9-0 win. West Forsyth might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by three goals or more this season.

Their offense was hitting Etowah from everywhere, as seven different players booted in a goal. Megan Rivera led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by herself.

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last matchup, Sequoyah made sure to put some goals up on the board against Woodstock on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 4-1 margin over the Wolverines. The score was close at halftime, but Sequoyah pulled away in the second half with three goals.

West Forsyth pushed their record up to 15-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 22 goals over those four games. As for Sequoyah, their victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-6 and their overall record up to 3-9.

Everything went West Forsyth's way against Sequoyah in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, as West Forsyth made off with a 5-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolverines since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
