Softball Recap: Piedmont Comes Up Short

Piedmont fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against West Stanly on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Colts. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Panthers of the 6-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Piedmont saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ashlyn Pressley, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Piedmont has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-4 record this season. The victory was the sixth in a row for West Stanly, bringing their record up to 10-1.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Piedmont is set to challenge their familiar foe Anson at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, West Stanly will take on rival Central Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
