Basketball Recap: Chambers Comes Up Short

Chambers lost against North Mecklenburg back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Chambers Cougars were outmatched by the North Mecklenburg Vikings and fell 62-14. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 314th, while the Vikings are ranked tenth).

North Mecklenburg found their leader in sophomore Lenise Joseph, who went 5 for 8 on her way to 10 points along with seven rebounds and four blocks. Joseph has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last ten times she's played. Another player making a difference was Shanon Hoover, who went 5 of 7 en route to 10 points.

Chambers' loss dropped their record down to 6-15. As for North Mecklenburg, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-2 record this season.

Looking ahead, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Cougars duke it out with the Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for North Mecklenburg, they will head out to face off against Hopewell at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. North Mecklenburg is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.9 points per game this season.
