Preview: Lubbock Westerners vs. Lubbock-Cooper Pirates
Lubbock is 0-10 against Lubbock-Cooper since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Lubbock Westerners will be playing at home against the Lubbock-Cooper Pirates at 6:00 p.m. Lubbock will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 625th, while Lubbock-Cooper is ranked 27th).
Lubbock had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Coronado by a score of 50-43 on Friday. The victory was just what Lubbock needed coming off of a 89-38 defeat in their prior contest.
Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Lubbock-Cooper's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They were outmatched by Monterey at home and fell 87-53. Lubbock-Cooper was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-23.
Lubbock's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-17. As for Lubbock-Cooper, their loss ended a 12-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 19-9.
