Softball Game Preview: Newcomb Skyhawks vs. Zuni Thunderbirds

The Newcomb Skyhawks will face off against the Zuni Thunderbirds at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Newcomb will aim to continue their five-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.

Newcomb is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Thoreau on Thursday as they made off with a 20-9 win. The victory continues a trend for the Skyhawks in their matchups with the Hawks: they've now won four in a row.

Meanwhile, Zuni was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They took a 12-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of Thoreau.

Malaya Quam was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Aubrey Awelagte was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs.

Zuni's defeat dropped their record down to 4-15. As for Newcomb, their win bumped their record up to 5-16.

Newcomb came out on top in a nail-biter against Zuni in their previous matchup back in March, sneaking past 12-10. Do the Skyhawks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Thunderbirds turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
