Montezuma-Cortez is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They came out on top against Elizabeth by a score of 11-6. Montezuma-Cortez's win was all the more impressive since the Cardinals were averaging only 3.24 runs allowed on the season.
Seth Oakes made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and not a single walk). Oakes was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Like Montezuma-Cortez, Resurrection Christian also got a great game from a two-way player: Vaughn Green. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. Green was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Colton Barber, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Maddox Sessions was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Montezuma-Cortez's record now sits at 21-4. As for Resurrection Christian, their record is now 17-8.
